Lida Fox, a former ballerina who has walked the runway for Saint Laurent and appeared in campaigns for Marc Jacobs, has turned her creative eye to photography. She founded Film Hooligans— a collective of behind-the-scenes, diaristic photography taken by contributors across the globe—with her friend Aida Nizankovska. “We’re lucky enough to have so many talented friends with really diverse, constantly changing lives and perspectives, so the content is usually pretty interesting,” Fox says. She illustrates her statement through the collage of photographs featured on the site, from nights out and memories of first love to behind-the-scenes shots at fashion events. The photos tend to deflect away from notions of glamourized youth in New York, instead offering a grittier perspective on the lives of young creatives. Of the project’s spontaneous nature, Fox explains, “Nearly all of my friends are in highly creative fields where we are pressured to create new ideas and content at an increasingly rapid pace. But often the most interesting things happen when nothing is planned and everyone is either super relaxed or super excited about what’s going on in real life, which in turn can feed creativity.”

This feature highlights some of our favorite images from the project, but be sure to explore the full site at www.filmhooligans.com. ★

Lida Fox is represented by Next Model Management in New York City. She was photographed for Constellation by Rebekah Campbell. All clothing Lida’s own.
